What we would tell you in the studio
- Crewneck and button front. A tidy ribbed crewneck sits flat at the base of the throat. The front placket closes with pale gold-tone buttons, giving you the choice to button it fully or wear it open over light base layers.
- Smooth fine gauge yarn. We chose a blended yarn that feels cool and smooth against bare skin. The knit has enough body to hold its shape through the shoulders while remaining light enough to pack into a bag without bulk.
- Pockets and hem balance. Two small patch pockets sit square on the lower front panels. The straight hem rests right around the hip line, creating a clean lower edge that works with both trousers and skirts.
- Cold wash care. Hand wash this cardigan in cold water to preserve the smooth finish of the yarn and the shape of the button band. Lay it flat on a clean towel to dry. Avoid the tumble dryer.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
