What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crew neck and front placket. The neck is knitted as a clean, rounded crew shape that rests smooth against the collarbone. A double-knit front placket runs the full length of the piece, giving the open edges weight so they stay flat when you walk.
  • Longline hem and pockets. We dropped the hem low so it lands well down the leg. Two roomy patch pockets are set low on the front panels, giving you a place for a phone or hands without pulling the knit out of shape.
  • Yarn hand and drape. Knitted from a fine, lightweight blended yarn with a smooth, soft face that will not prickle against bare skin. The knit carries enough stretch to move easily over tees and dresses while keeping a clean vertical drop.
  • Washing and shape care. Wash on a gentle, low-temperature cycle with mild detergent and skip the bleach. Reshape the damp knit by hand and dry it flat across a drying rack, then touch it with a warm iron if you need to press out travel creases.

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
