What we would tell you in the studio
- Wide foldover neck. The wide folded band adjusts across your shoulders or pulls down to one side. It stays in place through the rib structure without binding around the collarbone.
- Roomy straight body. We cut the body wide and straight so the knit hangs away from the torso. The fabric pools naturally as you move, settling into a relaxed silhouette.
- Full length sleeves. Long sleeves extend past the wrist to balance the open top. The knit holds its shape along the arm without stretching thin at the elbows.
- Gentle wash care. Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent to preserve the deep black dye. Press excess moisture out in a towel and dry flat on a rack.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
