Silk Satin Pajama Set for Women Summer Two Piece Fall Lounge

We cut this two-piece set in a lightgreen satin with a smooth, cool hand. The shirt has a open notched collar, a chest pocket, and short sleeves that drop wide off the shoulder. Paired with short shorts on an elastic waistband, both pieces fall loose rather than clinging.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Top cut and collar. The shirt buttons down the front to an open notched collar that forms a shallow V neck. We gave it short sleeves and a roomy body that hangs straight down to the hip line.
  • Short hem and waist. The shorts pull on over an elasticated waistband that sits flat without drawstrings. The legs are cut wide and short, leaving plenty of room through the thigh so the fabric glides as you move.
  • Satin surface hand. Woven from a fine satin yarn, the lightgreen fabric has a low-sheen face that feels cool against bare skin. It drapes loosely without adding bulk or holding stiff folds.
  • Care and washing. Wash on a gentle cycle in cold water to protect the smooth finish of the satin. Lay both pieces flat to dry, or tumble dry on low heat, then iron on low if needed.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
