What we would tell you in the studio

  • Lace sleeve detail. The long sleeves are constructed from open lace rather than solid jersey. They run straight to the wrist and slide under jacket cuffs or cardigan sleeves without adding bulk.
  • Henley placket. A round crew neck leads into functional front buttons. You can leave the placket fastened to sit flush against the collarbone or unbutton a couple to change the collar depth.
  • Body and hem. The body fabric has stretch that keeps the cut near the torso without pulling tight across the back. A slightly longer hemline gives enough length to tuck into waistbands without riding up.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash cold inside a mesh laundry bag so the lace does not catch on other garments. Tumble dry on a low setting or lay it flat on a dry towel to preserve the stitch shape.

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
