What we would tell you in the studio

  • Buttoned Henley neck. A rounded crew neckline meets a center-front button placket, allowing you to wear the collar closed or unfastened. The ribbed neckband lies flat against the collarbone and keeps its shape across repeated wear.
  • Lace sleeve construction. We knit the body in smooth jersey and set in sleeves with open lace patterning down to the wrists. The sleeves sit straight along the arm, letting air through the openwork while layering easily under jackets.
  • Close hip-length body. The body is cut to sit close to the torso and finishes around the hip. It tucks smoothly into trousers without bunching and stays in place when left untucked over a waistband.
  • Gentle wash care. Machine wash cold inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the open lace sleeves from catching on hardware. Tumble dry on low or lay flat on a towel so the knit dries evenly.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
