What we would tell you in the studio
- Crewneck and stripes. A plain round crewneck band frames the collarbone without pulling tight. The horizontal striping continues cleanly across the chest and down both sleeves, matched at the side seams.
- Fitted body and cropped hem. We shaped this body to sit close rather than loose. The hem lands high on the hip line, sitting flat above high-waisted trousers or denim without excess fabric bunching around the waist.
- Long ribbed sleeves. The sleeves run full length to the wrist. Ribbing at the cuffs holds the sleeve opening in place, whether you wear it straight down or push it up your forearm.
- Cotton yarn care. Hand wash in cold water or use a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Press the water out gently between clean towels and lay the knit flat to dry so the cropped shape stays true.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
