What we would tell you in the studio

  • Waistband and front closure. A hidden elastic band lines the inside of the waist, keeping the exterior flat and tailored. It fastens with a zip fly and a sturdy hook-and-bar closure for a neat finish across the front.
  • Wide leg cut. The fabric falls straight and wide from the hip down to the hem. It leaves ample room through the thigh and calf, allowing full stride without pulling or binding as you walk.
  • Lightweight stretch fabric. We chose a flexible, lightweight blend that bends without holding stiffness. The beige colourway stays smooth across the seat and leg, holding its shape through sitting, commuting, and daily movement.
  • Washing and fabric care. Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle or by hand, then tumble dry on low heat. A cool iron smooths out light wrinkles. You can also have them dry cleaned to maintain the crisp front.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
