What we would tell you in the studio

  • Waistband and front closure. A hidden elastic insert inside the waist offers extra give without altering the outside tailoring. The front fastens with a clean hook-and-bar closure and a flat zip fly.
  • Wide leg drape. The fabric falls loosely from the upper thigh down to the hem. It holds a crisp vertical drop that moves without clinging or feeling heavy around the ankle.
  • Coffee brown shade. This rich brown works alongside cream knits, black layers or lighter neutral tops. The woven surface takes the dark tone evenly with a soft matte finish.
  • Care and maintenance. Machine wash cold or hand wash in cold water. Tumble dry on low heat or line dry, and use a cool iron if you need to press the leg crease.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
