What we would tell you in the studio

  • Wide adjustable neckline. The wide neck sits straight across the collarbone or pulls over one shoulder. Because the knit has natural mechanical stretch, the edge rests flat without bunching or rolling down while you move.
  • Lantern sleeve shape. The sleeves drop low at the shoulder and swell into a lantern shape through the arm. Long ribbed cuffs pull the volume close around the wrists, keeping the extra knit from sliding over your hands.
  • Blouson top and mini skirt. The upper body hangs away from the waist in a loose blouson drape before meeting a close, ribbed bottom. The knit stretches easily over the lower body and finishes at a short hem length.
  • Ribbed yarn and care. We work this piece in a fine ribbed stitch that stays light against bare skin. To protect the recovery of the ribbing, hand wash cold or dry clean, then lay the dress flat to dry.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.

  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
