What we would tell you in the studio
- Collar and open neck. The polo collar is fully fashioned into the open V-neck placket. It lies flat against the collarbone without buttons, keeping the neckline open and neat under an outer coat or jacket.
- Fine lightweight yarn. We used a smooth, fine-gauge knit that stays light while keeping off a chill. The surface has a soft, silky hand that avoids the bulk or prickle of heavy winter wools.
- Roomy straight cut. The body is cut straight and roomy, dropping cleanly from the shoulders without clinging. Long sleeves extend past the wrist to balance the shorter, cropped placement of the bottom hem.
- Hand wash care. To protect the smooth knit surface and collar shape, hand wash this piece in cold water. Reshape it gently while damp and dry flat on a towel away from direct heat.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
