What we would tell you in the studio

  • Asymmetrical collar. The neckline crosses over in an open V-shape, secured at the side with two flat wooden buttons. It stays open without pulling across the collarbone.
  • Ribbed texture and stretch. Vertical ribs run through the fine-gauge knit, giving the fabric lateral give when you move. The black yarn holds a clean, even surface across the shoulders.
  • Sleeve and cropped hem. Long straight sleeves finish cleanly at the wrist. Below the waist, the cropped hem sits short so you can wear it loose over higher waistbands.
  • Laundering and care. Wash on a gentle cycle in cold water and skip the bleach. Lay the knit flat on a towel to dry so the ribbed structure keeps its original shape.

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
