What we would tell you in the studio

  • Asymmetrical neckline. The wrap V-neck crosses over at the collarbone and secures with two wooden buttons. It stays open without pulling tight across the chest.
  • Textured stretch knit. We use a fine ribbed knit with generous give across the shoulders and arms. The vertical ridges hold their shape and bounce back after washing.
  • Shorter roomy cut. The body is cut wide through the torso so the fabric falls straight down. The hem rests higher on the hips, leaving room to tuck into high waists.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle to protect the buttons and ribbed surface. Lay flat to dry and press with a low iron if needed.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
