What we would tell you in the studio
- Double sided texture. The outer surface is smooth to the touch while the inside is lined with short microfleece to reduce shedding. It holds warmth close without adding heavy weight under a coat.
- Roomy cropped cut. The body is cut wide with dropped shoulders, leaving space for a base tee underneath. The bottom edge stops short rather than pulling down past the hips, balancing the broader chest.
- Hood and pocket construction. We left drawstrings off the hood to keep the neckline clean and flat. Across the lower front, a single kangaroo pocket is stitched deep enough to hold hands or small items.
- Washing and care. Machine wash cold before the first wear to settle the inner fleece nap and clear residual lint. Reshape slightly and dry flat so the ribbed cuffs and wide body maintain their shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
