What we would tell you in the studio

  • Waist and pleats. Double pleats drop from a structured high waistband fitted with belt loops. A hook and bar closure and zip fly keep the front clean and flat.
  • Leg and taper. The leg cut stays relaxed through the thigh before narrowing slightly toward the hem. This shape leaves room to move without pooling over your shoes.
  • Pockets and details. Deep slant pockets on the sides hold small items easily. We set decorative welt pockets into the back to keep the seat smooth and unbulky.
  • Care instructions. Wash cold on a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Lay the trousers flat to dry to maintain the crisp front creases.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
