What we would tell you in the studio

  • Waist and pleat construction. The waistband features belt loops, a zip fly, and an internal hook-and-bar closure. Double pleats at the front give the fabric room to move naturally when you sit, while back welt pockets stay flat.
  • Tapered leg profile. The cut gives you room through the hip and upper leg, then narrows gradually toward the hem. This taper keeps the cuff neat over loafers, flats, or low heels without pooling on the floor.
  • Durable stretch weave. We use a dense knit blend of rayon, nylon, and spandex that rebounds after hours of sitting. It gives you flexible stretch without bagging at the knees or losing its clean press.
  • Washing and fabric care. Turn the trousers inside out and machine wash on a cold cycle in a mesh laundry bag. Lay them flat to dry to preserve the waistline and crisp leg lines without stretching the yarn.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
