We knit these trousers with a balance of rayon, nylon, and spandex yarn to give the fabric give and snap-back recovery. Double pleats sit below a high-rise waistband with belt loops, a zip fly, and a hook-and-bar closure. The leg runs semi-relaxed before tapering gently down to the ankle.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Double pleated waist. Front pleats add ease through the rise while keeping the waistband flat. We added belt loops, functional side pockets, and decorative rear welt pockets that stay shut so the back profile stays clean.
  • Dense knit recovery. The yarn blend gives the weave solid structure with built-in four-way stretch. It bends easily when you sit or walk, then recovers its shape without bagging out at the knees across long hours.
  • Tapered ankle cut. The leg drops straight from the hip and tapers slightly toward the hem. This narrower opening clears your shoes cleanly, working well with flat loafers, low-profile sneakers, or low-heeled work boots.
  • Wash and care. Machine wash cold inside a mesh laundry bag on a gentle cycle. Lay flat to dry or run on tumble dry low to preserve the elasticity in the yarn, and avoid chlorine bleach.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
