What we would tell you in the studio
- Asymmetric neck and sleeves. The open neckline leaves the collarbones bare while full-length sleeves give coverage down the arms. The stretch in the knit helps the shoulder line stay in place as you move.
- Ruched body and slit. Gathered ruching runs through the middle of the dress, giving the fabric gentle folds across the waist. A thigh slit opens the lower skirt for ease of walking.
- Ruffle hemline. The lower edge is cut longer in back and finishes in a knit ruffle. This adds weight to the bottom hem so the dress hangs straight when stationary.
- Care and wash routine. Machine wash in cold water using a mesh bag to protect the fine knit surface. Lay the dress flat on a clean towel to dry so the long skirt keeps its original shape.

- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
