What we would tell you in the studio

  • Wide leg shape. The straight cut drops broad from the hip down to the shoe, giving the legs room to move freely without bunching or binding.
  • Waistband and pockets. We built the waistband with an elastic section for ease, closed by a standard button and zipper. Two open side pockets sit deep along the front seams.
  • Stretch cloth hand. The woven blend has a smooth finish that resists wrinkles through long travel days. Added stretch lets the fabric give when you sit, then recover its shape when you stand.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with dark colors. Line dry or tumble dry on low heat, and use a cool iron if you need to press the creases.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
