What we would tell you in the studio

  • Elastic waist construction. The waistband pulls on directly, using internal elastic that stays flat across the front. Faux welt pockets at the back keep the profile clean without adding extra thickness under tops.
  • Wide leg profile. The legs drop wide from the high waist down to a broad hem. A permanent center crease gives the fluid brown fabric a vertical line that holds its geometry while walking.
  • Drape and yarn feel. The knit blend combines smooth surface yarns with built-in stretch. It resists creasing throughout the day, hanging away from the skin with a soft, steady weight.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash in cold water using a mesh bag to protect the knit surface from snagging. Tumble dry on low heat or lay flat to dry to keep the center crease intact.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
