What we would tell you in the studio
- Wide leg drape. The leg falls straight from the upper hip down to a wide ankle opening. This generous cut gives the fabric room to swing when you walk, preventing bunching around the knees.
- Waistband and pockets. We built the waistband with a front zip closure and added elastic through the rear for ease. Two functional side pockets rest flush against the hip seam to hold small items.
- Apricot stretch cloth. The woven synthetic blend has built-in give that springs back into place after bending or packing. Its pale apricot tone pairs naturally with cream pullovers, white shirts, or dark outerwear.
- Washing and care. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle alongside similar light tones. Tumble dry on a low setting or hang the trousers by the cuffs to let any residual creasing drop out.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
