What we would tell you in the studio

  • Convertible open neckline. The wide neck opening sits flat across the collarbone or pulls down over the shoulders. It holds its place without digging in, letting you wear it centered or slanted to one side.
  • Ruched waist construction. Side seams feature gathered ruching that draws the lower half inward. This anchors the cropped hem along high-waisted waistbands while letting the fabric above stay loose and gathered.
  • Relaxed batwing sleeve. The sleeves drop from a low, subtle batwing cut that leaves plenty of room through the upper body. They narrow toward the wrist to keep the excess fabric contained during movement.
  • Yarn hand and wash. This fine gauge jersey knit has added stretch for continuous recovery after wear. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and lay flat to dry so the ruched side seams keep their shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
