What we would tell you in the studio

  • Wide neckline cut. The neck opening is cut wide and flat, allowing the knit to sit off one shoulder or rest across both. It stays in place without stiff inner bands or heavy seams.
  • Batwing sleeve construction. We knit the sleeves with a dropped, loose underarm that tapers down along the forearm. The extra width through the arm lets the fabric fold and drape naturally when your hands move.
  • Ruched cropped hem. Side gathering pulls the knit in at the waist, ending in a short hemline that lands above the hip. The ruched sides hold the lower edge close while the chest stays loose.
  • Cool blue shade. This solid blue yarn has a clean, matte finish across the knit face. We suggest washing it in cold water on a gentle cycle and laying it flat so the gathering keeps its shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
