Wide Leg Dress Work Pants Slacks Trousers Business Casual Teacher

We knit these trousers with a dense, resilient yarn that holds its shape through long hours of sitting and walking. A permanent stitched crease runs straight down the front of each leg, giving the wide profile a sharp vertical line without requiring an iron. The waistband combines a clean front zip with elastic flexibility for easy pull-on wear.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Waistband and closure. A front zip pairs with an elasticized back band to keep the waist sitting flat without gaping. The cut pulls on quickly and settles securely at the mid waist.
  • Permanent front seam. The center crease is stitched directly into the knit along the front of each leg. This vertical seam stays straight and keeps its sharp line through wash cycles and repeated wear.
  • Pockets and wide leg. Deep side pockets sit flat against the hip without adding bulk to the side seams. The legs fall straight and wide toward a clean hem that clears low shoes or ankle boots.
  • Yarn recovery and care. The knit blends resilient yarns that spring back into shape after stretching at the knees. Machine wash cold inside a mesh laundry bag and tumble dry on low heat.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
