What we would tell you in the studio

  • Knit structure and recovery. The knit balances rayon, nylon, and spandex to create a firm gauge that springs back after bending or sitting. It holds its tailored line through long hours of wear without bagging at the knee.
  • Waistband and pocket construction. An elastic back band sits flat against the waist and closes with a clean front zip. We added deep functional side pockets that sit flush along the hip without pulling the side seams open.
  • Permanent front seam. A stitched vertical crease runs down the middle of each wide leg. Because this ridge is sewn directly into the knit, it stays centered without needing an iron to hold its shape.
  • Washing and fabric care. Turn the trousers inside out and machine wash in cold water using a mesh bag. Tumble dry on low heat or lay flat to dry. Do not use bleach.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
