What we would tell you in the studio

  • Crew neck and sleeves. A clean round crew collar sits flat against the collarbone without stretching out. Short sleeves finish neatly on the upper arm, leaving plenty of room to slip a heavier cardigan or tailored jacket over top.
  • Dense stretch knit. The yarn blend gives this knit firm recovery across hours of wear. It hugs close through the torso without feeling rigid, keeping its shape through sitting and moving rather than bagging out at the seat or hem.
  • Short straight hem. The cut falls straight to a cropped hem length. It creates a compact profile that pairs naturally with tall boots, flat loafers, or low trainers, depending on the season and setting.
  • Cold wash care. Machine wash cold inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the knit structure from friction. Tumble dry on low heat or lay it flat on a dry towel to preserve the stitch tension and garment shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
