What we would tell you in the studio

  • Ribbed knit structure. A fine vertical rib gives both pieces stretch and recovery across hours of wear. The knit runs straight without clinging tight to the body, holding a clean line from the shoulders down to the hems.
  • Hooded cropped top. The long sleeves finish in firm ribbing at the wrists, matching the band along the short waist hem. An integrated hood with drawstrings sits over the collar, framing the front zipper.
  • Matching knit bottoms. The trousers pull on with a foldover ribbed waistband that stays in place without pinching. The legs fall in a clean straight cut to match the balance of the cropped top.
  • Care and washing. Hand wash the set in cold water or use a gentle dry clean cycle. Press out excess water with a towel and dry both pieces flat on a rack so the ribs do not stretch out.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
