What we would tell you in the studio

  • Ribbed cropped top. The zip hoodie lands short at the waist with structured ribbing along the lower band and cuffs. Long sleeves fall straight from the shoulder, and drawstrings adjust the hood opening.
  • Flared trouser cut. We knit the bottoms with a rollover waistband that stays in place without pinching. The leg drops straight through the knee before widening into a soft flare at the hem.
  • Matching dye lot. Knitting both garments in the same yarn batch keeps the light pink tone consistent across the top and trousers. The rib structure gives the set natural give across a day of wear.
  • Washing and shape. Hand wash in cool water or dry clean to protect the rib texture and the zipper tape. Press excess water into a towel and dry both pieces flat on a rack.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
