Women's Halter Tops Going Out Summer Racerback Date Night Outfits

We knit this halter top from a smooth yarn blend with steady recovery. The apricot shade sits against open shoulders, cut with a racerback and a sleeveless profile. It works on its own in warm weather or under an unbuttoned shirt when the air cools down.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Halter and racerback cut. The high halter neck leads into cutaway armholes and a racerback. The knit stays flat along the chest and shoulders without puckering or bunching.
  • Smooth stretch yarn. We use a lightweight, multi-fibre knit that gives with movement and returns to shape. The face is smooth against bare skin, with enough body to hold its lines.
  • Apricot shade. The apricot yarn is dyed before knitting for even colour across the body. It pairs with light denim, ecru linen, or darker twill trousers.
  • Washing and care. Hand wash in cold water or run a gentle machine cycle with mild detergent. Lay the top flat on a dry towel to dry so the straps keep their shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
