What we would tell you in the studio

  • Open lace neckline. The neckline is cut in a low V and framed with delicate lace trim along the edges. It leaves the collarbone bare and sits flat against the skin without pulling forward.
  • Roomy body cut. We shaped the body with extra width through the waist so the fabric falls straight down rather than clinging. The shorter hemline clears the hips, pairing cleanly over high-rise waistbands.
  • Ribbed long sleeves. Full-length sleeves run straight to the wrists, knitted in the same fine vertical rib as the body. The knit allows the cuffs to push up the forearm and stay in place.
  • Yarn and care. The smooth synthetic blend offers a soft surface hand and slight mechanical stretch. Machine wash on a gentle cycle in cold water inside a mesh bag, then lay flat to dry to protect the lace.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
