What we would tell you in the studio
- Open V-neckline. The collar band shapes a neat V down to the button placket. It lies flat against the collarbone and leaves room for light base layers underneath.
- Lightweight knit gauge. We chose a fine, smooth yarn that keeps the body light to carry. The apricot shade is solid throughout the knit, showing the clean surface of the stitch.
- Cropped straight hem. The hem is cut short and hangs straight across the waist. It works well over high-rise waistbands without adding bulk around the hips.
- Washing and drying. Hand wash in cool water or use a gentle machine cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Press out excess water with a towel and dry flat to keep the button placket straight.

Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
