What we would tell you in the studio
- Crewneck and button front. The rounded crew neckline sits flat against the collarbone, finished with fine ribbing. Small front buttons fasten all the way up, allowing the knit to function as a closed top or a light outer layer.
- Roomy cropped body. We shaped the torso with extra ease so the fabric hangs straight down without pulling. The hem stops short, meeting high-waisted skirts and trousers without bunching or needing to be tucked.
- Heather gray yarn. Spun from a blend of smooth synthetic yarns, the knit feels soft directly against bare skin. The heather gray yarn mixes light and dark fibers for a muted, steady tone across the entire surface.
- Washing and shape care. Turn the cardigan inside out before washing in cold water on a gentle cycle, preferably in a mesh bag. Lay it flat on a dry towel to air dry so the ribbed edges keep their shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
