What we would tell you in the studio
- Open front drape. The front edges hang straight without fastenings, letting the fabric move naturally as you walk. It sits loose over basic tops and tailored trousers without bunching or adding bulk under an overcoat.
- Fine gauge knit. We chose a thin, smooth yarn that knits up flat and lightweight. The fabric has a soft hand against bare skin and holds its shape through regular wear rather than stretching out.
- Patch pocket placement. Two drop-in pockets are knitted directly into the lower front panels. They sit flat when empty, holding small everyday items without distorting the straight line of the hem.
- Washing and care. Hand wash in cool water or use a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Squeeze out excess moisture without wringing, then dry the knit flat on a towel away from direct heat.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
