What we would tell you in the studio
- Open front line. The placket falls straight from a clean crew neck without buttons or fasteners. It stays open as you move, showing whatever knit top, tank, or collared shirt you choose to wear underneath.
- Fine gauge knit. We used a lightweight yarn that keeps bulk low while holding a smooth face. It has a light drape that moves easily rather than hanging stiffly against your clothes.
- Short sleeve coverage. The sleeves end well above the elbow, keeping your wrists free for desk work or kitchen prep. The armholes give plenty of room so underlayers do not bunch up beneath the shoulders.
- Pockets and hem. Two low patch pockets sit level at the front to hold small essentials. The hem finishes around the knee, knitted with a flat band that stays straight instead of curling.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
