We knit this long-sleeve henley with a light, smooth hand and enough stretch to keep its shape through regular wear. The cut hangs loose away from the torso, ending near the hip. A clean split neckline fastens with metallic snaps alongside a small decorative chest flap.

What we would tell you in the studio

  • Snap henley neck. The open V-neckline uses metallic snap buttons along the placket so you can adjust how low it sits. A single decorative flap rests flat across the chest.
  • Roomy body drape. The body is cut wide through the waist and sides, falling straight to the hip without clinging. It moves easily over waistbands and stays untucked without bunching.
  • Fine gauge yarn. We chose a blended yarn that feels soft against bare skin and resists creasing throughout the day. It has a light weight suitable for solo wear or base layering.
  • Washing and care. Wash on a gentle cycle in cold water with similar tones. Lay the knit flat on a towel to dry so the long sleeves and hem retain their original shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
