What we would tell you in the studio

  • Metallic snap placket. The open v neckline runs into a front placket closed with metallic snap buttons. You can leave a few unfastened or snap them shut depending on what you wear underneath.
  • Roomy knit cut. We cut the body with extra ease through the chest and waist so the fabric falls straight down. The hem rests around the hip line without clinging or pulling tight across the back.
  • Fine gauge knit. The fabric blends fine threads with spandex for recovery and a soft hand against bare skin. It holds its shape through a full day of movement without creasing or bagging out.
  • Cold wash care. Machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle, preferably inside a mesh laundry bag to protect the snaps. Lay flat on a dry towel to maintain the neckline shape and sleeve length.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
