What we would tell you in the studio

  • Ribbed knit texture. Fine vertical ridges give this lightweight knit its gentle stretch. The fabric hangs away from the body without clinging, holding its straight drape through hours of wear.
  • Shoulder button trim. Small resin buttons line each shoulder seam, breaking up the flat crewneck line. They sit flush against the knit without pulling or weighting the neckline down.
  • Cuffs and hem. Matching ribbing finishes the wrists and bottom hem to give the edges structure. The long sleeves stay gathered where they land, and the straight hem rests naturally near the hip.
  • Washing and care. Hand wash in cold water or run on a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Lay the top flat on a towel to dry so the ribbing keeps its shape and length.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
