What we would tell you in the studio

  • Resin shoulder buttons. Small resin buttons line each shoulder seam to add weight and structure along the top edge of the crewneck. They stay in place without pulling the collar out of shape.
  • Fine ribbed texture. The vertical rib gives the knit natural mechanical stretch across the chest and back. It recovers its shape through regular wear and rests soft against bare skin without clinging.
  • Sleeve and hem edges. Dense ribbing finishes the cuffs and bottom hem. The sleeves stay put when pushed up the forearm, while the lower band keeps the waistline clean whether worn out or tucked.
  • Care and washing. Machine wash cold inside a mesh laundry bag or hand wash gently to protect the shoulder buttons. Lay flat on a towel to dry so the ribbed knit keeps its length.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
