What we would tell you in the studio

  • Criss-cross neckline. The open V-neck crosses over at the collar and finishes with decorative wooden-look buttons. It sits flat against the collarbone without pulling tight.
  • Contrast ribbed sleeves. We switched the knit on the long sleeves to a direct rib gauge. The dropped shoulder keeps the armhole roomy, while the ribbing hugs closer down the forearm.
  • Curved high-low hem. The hem sweeps lower in the back and finishes with side slits. It falls around the hip, giving enough length to wear untucked over trousers or half-tucked into denim.
  • Brushed yarn care. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and tumble dry on low heat. Laying it flat to dry helps the brushed finish and rib cuffs keep their shape across repeated wear.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
