What we would tell you in the studio

  • Ribbed knit texture. The fine vertical rib adds light texture and flexible stretch across both garments. It drapes loosely rather than pulling tight, keeping the fabric off the skin in warmer weather.
  • Crew neck and sleeve. A classic round crewneck band finishes the top, keeping the collar flat against the collarbone. The long sleeves fall straight to the wrist with self-start hems for a clean line.
  • Full length trouser hem. The bottoms are knitted with a generous cut that drops straight down to the ankle. The open hem settles naturally over flat shoes or sneakers without bunching up.
  • Cold wash care. Machine wash both pieces together in cold water on a gentle cycle to preserve the dye lot balance. Tumble dry on low heat or lay flat to dry to maintain the shape.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
