What we would tell you in the studio

  • The ribbed gauge. A fine vertical rib gives this knit generous horizontal give while snapping back into shape. It sits close against the skin from the collar down to the hem without feeling stiff.
  • Mock neck collar. The collar rises straight up the neck without folding down, sitting flat against the base of the throat. It holds its upright line through wear rather than rolling down or sagging.
  • Sleeve and short hem. Long, straight sleeves cover down to the wrist bone to balance the short skirt length. The bottom hem is finished flat so it stays put instead of curling upward as you walk.
  • Washing and shape. Machine wash on a cold cycle and tumble dry on low heat. Laying it flat across a drying rack helps preserve the vertical rib structure and keeps the hem from stretching out.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
