What we would tell you in the studio
- Pique knit texture. The small geometric stitch gives the yarn body without adding bulk. It holds its own structure away from the skin and stays smooth across hours of wear.
- Crew collar and raglan cut. The collar is a plain rounded band that sits flat against the collarbone. Diagonal raglan seams run from the neck to the underarm, giving the shoulders a continuous line.
- Short hem geometry. Because the hem lands short, the wider body balances well over high-waisted skirts or stiff cotton trousers. It hangs straight without clinging at the base.
- Washing and shape care. Hand wash in cold water or run on a gentle machine cycle with mild soap. Press out water with a towel and dry flat on a rack so the knit does not stretch.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
