What we would tell you in the studio
- Stripe and seam details. Bold horizontal stripes are broken by thin accent lines placed directly along the shoulder line and near the cuffs. These finer bands give clear definition to the wider color blocks across the chest and arms.
- Cut and body drape. The body is cut wide and hangs straight down, clearing the waist and landing low along the hips. Dropped shoulder seams lower the armholes so the fabric drapes freely without pulling tight across the back.
- Cotton yarn blend. We spun cotton with acrylic to create a smooth, midweight fabric that holds its blocky structure after wear. The surface feels soft directly against bare skin and leaves enough room underneath for base layers.
- Washing and care. Hand wash this knit in cold water or dry clean it to keep the yarn from shrinking. Reshape the body while damp and dry it flat on a towel rather than hanging it up on a rack.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
