What we would tell you in the studio
- Ribbed mock neck. The collar is ribbed to stand upright around the neck without feeling tight or rigid. It holds its shape through regular wear and sits clean beneath the collar of an open jacket.
- Dropped shoulder line. The armholes drop low on the shoulder, giving the upper body a relaxed shape. Long sleeves taper down into wide ribbed cuffs that stay in place when pushed up the forearm.
- Shorter body length. The hem is cut shorter to meet high-waisted trousers or skirts cleanly. Wide ribbing at the bottom edge gives the square cut a finished border without pulling the fabric in tight.
- Caring for the yarn. Hand wash the knit in cool water with a mild detergent, or use a gentle machine cycle. Reshape the sweater while damp and dry it flat on a towel so the weight of the water does not stretch the shoulders.

- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
