What we would tell you in the studio

  • Roomy double breasted cut. The body is built with extra ease through the chest and waist so it fits over chunky pullovers without binding. Two rows of buttons secure the front closure.
  • Wide lapel collar. The collar folds open into broad lapels that frame a high neck knit or lie smooth against a plain round tee. It fastens up high when you want more shelter.
  • Extended hemline. The coat falls past the hip toward the knee in a straight drop. That extra length blocks drafty air and stays tidy over long skirts or wide leg knit pants.
  • Side seam pockets. We set deep pockets right into the side seams to keep the outer face clean. They hold daily essentials or warm cold hands without disrupting the drape of the fabric.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
