What we would tell you in the studio

  • Wool blend drape. The woven wool blend provides structure without heavy stiffness. It feels smooth against the hand and hangs clear of the body, allowing base layers to sit flat underneath without bunching.
  • Closure and belt. Two front snaps secure the crossover front against cold wind. You can knot the matching self-fabric belt to draw the waist in, or leave both open to let the front panels fall naturally.
  • Sleeve and cuff straps. Full-length sleeves give ample room for chunky sweater cuffs to pass through easily. Tab details at each wrist finish the sleeve edge and keep the silhouette grounded.
  • Care and maintenance. Spot clean minor marks with cool water or dry clean to maintain the crisp line of the lapels and the smooth surface of the wool blend. Store on a broad hanger between wears.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
