What we would tell you in the studio

  • Wool blend fabric. The wool-blend cloth holds its shape along the lapels while staying smooth to the touch. It provides substantial cold-weather coverage over sweaters, shirts, or dresses without adding stiff bulk.
  • Crossover front closure. Two snap fasteners secure the crossover front beneath notched lapels. You can fasten the snaps and cinch the fabric belt, or leave the front completely open to show the base layers underneath.
  • Sleeve and cuff details. The long sleeves are finished with strap accents at the wrists to keep the cuffs in place. The shoulder cut leaves enough room through the arms so your base knitwear does not bunch up inside.
  • Pockets and care. Side pockets sit neatly in the side seams for keeping small items close. To preserve the structure of the collar and the smooth finish of the wool blend, we recommend dry cleaning.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
