What we would tell you in the studio
- Open neckline and placket. The wide V-neck drop meets a button front that sits flat against the chest. Leave it unfastened to let an underlayer show through, or button it up to hold the shape.
- Cropped boxy body. The cut stays wide through the torso and finishes at a cropped hem. Because the knit hangs straight down, it sits off the waist without bunching up over skirts or trousers.
- Short sleeve construction. We shaped the sleeves short and relaxed to keep bulk out from under coats. The wide arm openings give your shoulders full room to move throughout the day.
- Washing and yarn care. Hand wash in cool water with mild wool detergent to protect the knit texture. Press out water with a dry towel and lay flat on a drying rack away from direct heat.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
