What we would tell you in the studio
- Open cowl neck. The wide neck sits loosely around the collar, folding and resting naturally without gripping the throat. It layers easily over a thin camisole or sits directly against bare skin.
- Batwing sleeve construction. We cut the sleeves with deep, low-set armholes that give plenty of room through the upper arm before tapering down into neat cuffs that stay put at the wrist.
- Asymmetrical tunic hem. The lower edge angles across the body, falling past the hip on one side. This broken line keeps the chunky knit moving freely over trousers, knit skirts, or slim leggings.
- Yarn hand and care. The yarn feels soft, smooth, and substantial without weighing down the shoulders. Hand wash in cold water or dry clean, then lay the knit flat on a towel to preserve its shape.
Living with this one
Do
- Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
- Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
- Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
- Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.
Skip
- Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
- Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
- Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
