What we would tell you in the studio

  • Stretch base knit. We use a lightweight, flexible knit with built-in stretch that lets the fabric move with your stride. It wicks away moisture and keeps bulk down so heavy outerwear fits over it without bunching.
  • Round crew neck. The neckline is finished with a simple, flat band that rests clear of your collarbones. It stays tucked away under heavier sweaters, flannel shirts, or zip-up outerwear without adding extra bulk at the neck.
  • Long straight cut. The top features long sleeves with clean hems, paired with straight-cut bottoms that reach the ankle. Neither piece billows or binds, allowing pants and jackets to glide right over the surface.
  • Laundering and care. Wash both pieces together in cool water on a gentle cycle to preserve the dye and elasticity. Reshape them while damp and dry flat away from direct heat to keep the knit soft and springy.

Living with this one

Do

  • Wash cold and on the gentle cycle, or by hand if the yarn feels loose.
  • Dry it flat, in shape, away from the radiator.
  • Fold it on the shelf rather than hanging it by the shoulders.
  • Measure a jumper you already like and compare it before you settle on a size.

Skip

  • Bleach and fabric softener, both of them flatten the surface.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is how knit becomes one size smaller.
  • Hangers with thin shoulders, they leave two points that never come out.
  • Ironing directly on the face of the knit.
